It Can't Rain Forever

There’s a phrase people love to repeat when things get heavy. It can’t rain forever. It sounds hopeful, but it also skips over the part nobody wants to sit in. The rain itself.

Adversity is not an occasional visitor for some of us. It shows up regularly. Back against the wall. Bills stacked. Time stretched thin. Expectations high. Energy low. Those realities don’t make highlight reels and they rarely make conversations, especially when everyone feels pressure to look like they have it figured out.

I believe there has to be space for imperfection. Space for the grey area. Those moments when you are not okay, when you are tired of being strong, when you are functioning but not flourishing. We don’t always talk about those periods, but they shape us just as much as the wins. Sometimes more.

Chicago understands this better than most cities. Recently, we lost a Chicago legend, DJ Commando. To the outside world, his life looked like the dream. He rocked major clubs, legendary venues, international stages, radio sets, festivals, and spaces that most people only imagine being in. He represented Chicago globally. But like so many creatives, leaders, and pillars of culture, what the world saw was only part of the story. Behind the lights and sound systems were pressures, expectations, and weight that never fully leave.

That loss was a reminder. Success does not cancel struggle. Visibility does not erase vulnerability. And having a platform does not mean the rain has stopped.

This piece, It Can’t Rain Forever, is a reflection of that truth. The flared bottoms speak to movement and progression even when the path feels uneven. The thick 450 GSM fabric carries weight, just like the seasons we have to carry ourselves through. The boxy top leaves room to breathe, to exist without forcing perfection. The subtle colorways are intentional. Nothing loud. Nothing forced. Just grounded, steady, and honest.

This is not a piece about pretending everything is okay. It’s about acknowledging when it isn’t and still choosing to show up. It’s about the quiet resilience of getting through the day without needing applause. It meets you where you are, not where you feel pressured to be.

Like many of my pieces, this drop is limited. There will be no restock. Not because of hype, but because moments pass. Seasons change. The rain eventually lets up, but it leaves marks, lessons, and growth behind.

If you’re in a season where things feel heavy, this isn’t here to rush you out of it. It’s here to sit with you in it. To remind you that even when the clouds stay longer than expected, they do not get the final word.

It can’t rain forever. But while it’s raining, you’re allowed to be human.
